traveling the cord

fed by betrayal
licking at old wounds

the heat only grows
a ravenous inferno
of pilot descent

charred heart remains
last vestige of the wildrage

bubbling
rising weightless in the throat
until a giggle escapes

floating and expanding
filling every corner
splitting a face with laughter

titter, chuckle, guffaw
discarding the anchors of day to day
buoyant in joy

Water (imbued)

drenched

sorrow dripping from fingertips

each crashing wave

a new round of tears

rivers carving tender cheeks

hollow pools in a gaunt face

reservoirs of grief

resenting the dry eyes that follow

their pain forever ebbed

deserts of emotion

quaking
beating upon itself
sliding past an enemy
argument shaking the ground
trembling
toppling the city
cracks like veins
winding through walls
buildings convulsing
a terrain arrest

Earth (balanced)

silent stone
reticent through the years
still its history is told
pressed day by day
or flames that cooled
it forms the base
each step pounded in
it rises to meet us

Fire (unbalanced)

blazing
an inferno
all is tinder before it
devouring
with unending hunger
a traveling pyre
leaping the sizzling air
grasping for more
curling fingers of flame
and choking out life

dancing flame
lighting the darkness
flickering
igniting imagination
watching the images
play out in your glow
warmth seeping
licking at my skin
soft solace in the dark

twisting
mindless spirals
hopping and bounding
stepping to earth
only to retreat unharmed
screaming
it circles again
calm center belying its rage
destruction its only gift

like an intricate dance
